RUBY ESSENCE

GEOLOGICAL :- Ruby, a member of the Corundum family, is found in varying shades of red and is thus named Rubeus in Latin. As a rough gem, Ruby seems dull and greasy, however, when cut, the lustre may approach that of a Diamond. In fact Ruby is the hardest mineral after Diamond. There are many imitations on the market, especially glass, and also many names for them, such as Balas Ruby (Spinel), Cape Ruby (Garnet), and Siberian Ruby (Tourmaline). It has a hardness of 9 and is found in Burma, U.S.A., India, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. Ruby may be confused with Fluorite, Spinel, Topaz, Tourmaline and Zircon.
MYTHOLOGY :- One particular type of Ruby was known as ‘pigeon’s blood’, as it was colored pure red with a hint of blue. It is said to be a drop of blood from mother earth. Ruby is valued by the Hindus to remove evil thoughts, control amorous desires, reconciling disputes and dispersing unwanted vapours. Ruby has been known as ‘the stone of the Lords’, as it is believed to surpass all other gems in virtue. Ruby was used against envy, nightmares, protection against pain, loss or damage to property and unfaithfulness, and it was said to draw friends to its user. It was also said to change color to black or to pale through a change in its vibrations if there was a threat to its user’s life. In Burma, Ruby was said to make its user invulnerable. However, to achieve this, it was necessary to insert it into the flesh, to enable it to become part of the body, this then allowed the person the belief that they could not be wounded by gun, spear or sword. The dark and star rubies were known as the ‘male’ gems. The others, particularly, the lighter ones, the ‘female’ gems.
HEALING :- Ruby is a particularly powerful essence which has the ability to bring hidden things to the light. Just by its color (Red) we get an indication of some of Ruby’s powers. For example, red is associated with anger and passion and we wave a red flag to a bull to incite it. As such, Ruby essence may bring these emotions quickly to the surface, and should only be used when a person has knowledge of how to learn and gain from the experience. In this way they are able to be purified by the experience, rather than overwhelmed by it.
Ruby essence is an amplifier of positive and negative energy, similar to Diamond. However, Ruby heightens whatever purity its user already possesses, forming a type of reserve of positive energy to draw upon when dealing with the negative issues it may stir up. Ruby essence is also beneficial in assisting its user to deal with any grief that may come up as a result of this process.
Ruby essence increases energy levels and assists with disorders of the blood, such as anaemia, poor circulation, cleansing of the blood and heart disease, assisting to regenerate the physical and the spiritual heart. The liver also benefits from Ruby, as does the brain, enhancing courage, integrity, selfless service, leadership, joy, spiritual devotion and power. Beneficial with intuitive thinking, Ruby essence strengthens immunity, activating sluggish or dormant conditions on the physical and spiritual levels and banishing any sense of limitation.
Ruby essence assists its user in all matters of love, including love for themselves. It is also an energising stone that assists with motivation, allowing its user to become more realistic about expectations and goals. Ruby refines lower passions and as such can be an excellent choice for those working with Tantric practices. Bringing unresolved emotions and passions up to the surface, providing the energy and insight to deal with them and then refining lower passions into a higher manifestation or situation. In some cases it may be necessary to couple this with a softening essence (such as Rose Quartz or Moonstone). This provides a gentle support system, allowing the user to feel in control and nurtured as they are healing their past and moving more completely and freely into the present.
For those working with past life recall Ruby essence can activate the memory of our own akashic record (the etheric record, containing the memory of all that has occurred). This allows the user to reconnect with their own memories and true divine spark allowing a deeper understanding of all that is going on about them.
When used for bathing, Ruby essence eases disorientation, bringing its user to a more balanced state. It assists in focussing and healing any concerns which may have arisen over the father, or parental image.
Ruby has an affinity to Sagittarius, Leo, Capricorn and Scorpio and is the birthstone of those born in July.
