| 2002 China Healing & Feng Shui -Itinerary
October 4th - 21st 2002 TOUR ITINERARY The awakening begins: * - Itemises what is and what is not included each day. This will allow you to work out additional expenses. All accomodation & breakfasts are included for the entire journey, transport/lunch/refreshments on study days. On the days where dinners are not included you may do your own thing or Daryll & I will delight in taking you to wonderful local restaurants (many which tourists never find) at remarkably inexpensive prices. When you have free time, there are massages, reflexology, night markets and many classes / courses you may like to book in for in a variety of studies from traditional Chinese medicine through to Mandarin. (Many worldwide accredited) Day 1: BEIJING- 1pm-6.00pm: Orientation meeting & welcome party, getting to know you talks over lunch. Followed by a session with information on China for personal use. Healing, Energy (Chi development), Video & Kinesiology demonstations. We celebrate together with dinner at a quaint, yet delicious local restaurant. * - Inc- lunch, refreshments, welcome gift, Dinner Day 2,3 & 4: BEIJING: Over these 3 days we have some wonderful experiences in store for the group, we will be busy each day sightseeing, learning and taking study groups whilst we visit many special places including: The Great Wall, The Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven, White Cloud Temple, Tien An Men Square, Beijing Hospital, The Summer Palace, The Hutongs (traditional neighbourhoods & great shopping streets), schedules permitting we will enjoy a Beijing acrobatics performance. We will begin at 5am one morning to experience the wonders of purple bamboo park where people will practice many wonderous forms of Chi development each day before setting off for work/school/home duties. You have the opportunity to do some shopping, take a local rickshaw rides, taste some local delicacies (my 2 favourites are toffee crab apples on a stick or silken tofu, pan fried and seared with a orange glaze, Daryll loves vegetarian Peking duck - true !). Daryll & I will be with you the entire time sharing insights, teachings and sightseeing/shopping experiences. We have a few special events & experiences in store over these days. * - Inc - some lunches, transport, entry fees. a-Not Inc- Dinners Day 5-6: BEIJING - GUILIN: Early breakfast & we board the train for the 27 hour journey fromBeijing to Guilin (over picturesque countryside with impressive towering mountain peaks bursting through the ground & awe inspiring views.). We travel 1st class in soft sleeper compartments, with air con / heating and bunk beds (4 per compartment). You can bring snacks with you (hot water for tea provided) or choose to revel in the experience of a Chinese dining car. Meals on board are very inexpensive and a wonderful & delicious experience. We arrive in Guilin about 11am. We check in to the hotel, have lunch and some free time. You may like the chance to try some local teas that are special to the area (Osmanthus fruit tea is my favourite). In the evening you have the opportunity to join us in a visit to the local (enormous) night markets all along the Li river and try your hand at some bargaining. * - Inc- transport, transfers to & from train stations. Not Inc - lunch & dinner. Day 7: GUILIN: We share sightseeing and special sites again, including: taking a cruise along the Li River and visiting the famous reed flute caves, where you can marvel at their size and the picturesque scenery. A combination of multicolored lights and towering stalactites and stalagmites make this a surreal experience. The Grotto of the crystal palace of the dragon king can comfortably hold around 1000 people, although during war time raids many more fitted in here. Tonight you can join us to have dinner on the towering revolving restaurant (Hong Kong Hotel), where you can take in the entire picturesque scenery of Guilin without even leaveing your table. * - Inc- lunch, Not/Inc - Dinner Day 8: GUILIN - YANGSHOU: After breakfast we depart (by road) for the 1.5 hour journey from Guilin to Yangshou. A delightful village where we will be based for the next 8 days. You will pass through local villages, have a heart connection with the beautiful mountainous scenery and fall in love with the energies of this wonderful location. We check into the hotel and share lunch, followed by a short meeting. The afternoon and evening is free to wander the cobblestone streets, the local shops and many small restaurants, delve into the ancient Feng Shui items for sale in the street stalls for next to nothing or strike up a conversation with the many local artists that have shops overloaded with the most amazing paintings and artpieces. You can have your name carved into a chop (chinese stone seal) for about $10. The main street is directly across from our hotel, where we are very centrally located. For dinner there are a myriad of delightful cafes and restaurants where you can have the choice of a cobbled street view & watch local life unfold around you, a river view where you can watch the fishing boats come and go and the sun set over the mountains or kick back and watch a western movie whilst eating a meal. (Many different movies every evening). * - Inc- lunch, transport. N/I - Dinner. Day 9-14: YANGSHOU: Our study work begins strongly now, over the next 6 days we will spend time studying energy healing work, have some guest lectures and visit local healers & masters. We have some free time where you have the opportunity to have massages with the local therapists, study some basic Chinese, acupuncture or traditional Chinese medicine. We will take a night boat tripto watch the local cormorant fishing and take a day long Feng Shui study tour to the local town of Fuli (one of the few villages where Feng Shui is still openly practiced). We will walk through this village learning about deeper feng shui cures, remedies and beliefs where we are able to see these objects in everyday practice. Daryll will guide you with a deep knowledge into the mysteries and the background of many fascinating sights. Those that wish to can ride bicyles (included) back through the mountain peaks to Yangshou. (Fairly easy ride along gentle slopes and wonderful scenery for about 1 hour). If this is not your choice you have a lovely, serene boat trip back to Yangshou. We will visit local artists and marvel at the spiritual aspects of their paintings, whilst shopping for art pieces, Feng Shui items and souveneirs at remarkably low prices. We enjoy lunch at different restaurants each day to enable you to experience many wonderful varieties and styles of cooking. In your free time, we can arrange a bike trip with a guide to Moon hill to overlook the entire valley, after your journey you can visit her home where she will cook a delicious meal for you. Day 14 is a completely free day for you. You can choose to be massaged, take some sightseeing tours, shop, spend the day studying with a local master or just relax by the pool. * - Inc lunch, refreshments bicycle hire (1 day), boat excursion to Fuli, Cormorant fishing excursion. Not/Inc - Dinners (lunch on day 14) Day 15: GUILIN: We farewell Yangshou for Guilin today, we enjoy further sightseeing to Nan Gongyuan (South Park) to contemplate the mythological immortal said to have lived in a cave here. We visit Banyan Lake and wander through the myriad of local hutongs, alleys and local shops, we share some special events and some free time. * - Inc transport, transfers. Not/Inc - Lunch, Dinner. Day 16: GUILIN: A full study day to pull together everything we have learnt over the 18 days. Tonight we have a special celebratory farewell dinner, presentation of study certificates, farewell gifts and celebration of completion. * - Inc lunch, Dinner. Day 17: GUILIN - BEIJING: A morning departure for our train journey back to Beijing, all day journey, and overnight in 1st class soft sleeper travel. A chance to share addresses, swap travel stories, kick back with the rest of the group in the dining car or over drinks at the bar. * - Inc- transport, transfers to & from train stations. Not Inc - lunch & dinner. Day 18: Arrive BEIJING: Arrive in Beijing where our wonderful journey completes. You will take with you, some wonderful memories, new skills, a refreshed mind, body & soul, awakenings to energy techniques and perhaps even some new or deepened friendships. You now have the option to fly directly home or extend your journey a little further. Some reccommendations are below. OPTIONAL EXTRA TRAVELS: After the completion of the tour you have a few options. You can: fly directly home, stay in Beijing for a few more days, take the train to Xian, Guangshou, Hong Kong or many other exciting destinations (we can assist you to arrange this), you will just need to allow enough time to complete your travels before your homeward flight. Remember when booking your international flights to Beijing that most airlines will allow a free stop over in their home base. Guilin Osmanthus hotel in guilin: The Guilin Osmanthus Hotel is located in the scenic riverside of downtown Guilin. The hotel lies just next to the biggest shopping center in Guilin and within walking distance to the Elephant Trunk Hill, which make it an ideal place to stay both for shopping and sightseeing. The Osmanthus Hotel has 370 guest rooms and all rooms are equipped with air-conditioner, cable TV, IDD, Mini-bar, color TV and refrigerator. Traditional Chinese and western foods are available here. There are other facilities including a karaoke room, a night club, bar, conference hall, business center, fitness center, outdoor swimming pool and shopping center, Airline Desk, Business Center, Beauty Club, Coffee Shop, Laudry Service, Restaurant, Lounge, Money Exchange, Internet Service, Shopping Arcade, Night Club, Swimming Pool. The thing I personal enjoy - as mentioned in the itinerary is the Osmanthus fruit tea which they are famous for.
