Beautiful High QUALITY Renascent Silicone Soap / Candle Art Mold

We are delighted to share with you these beautiful molds.

Not all soaps and soap bases are the same, we have only tested these molds with the Renascent Melt & Mold soap. We recommend the use of this soap base in your mold only. We are delighted to offer an opaque & a transparent soap base.

Using this mold is remarkably easy to create your very own special "soap art" pieces.

Step 1 - Preparing the area:   Once you have your Renascent Melt & Mold soap. You will need a double boiler. This can be a smaller saucepan inside a larger one or a stainless steel bowl on top of the sauce pan.  You can also use a microwave oven to melt your soap, generally a medium low temperature in increments of 1-2 minutes, should see your soap melted in around 4 minutes. (Just chop up & place in a bowl in the microwave). Make sure there is some water in the base of the double boiler. Roughly chop up the desired quantity of soap you wish to melt and place it in the top of the double boiler (away from the water). Over a reasonably low heat, allow your soap to melt, gently stirring as you go.
*NOTE - If you melt it over too high a heat / too quickly, or freeze it to cool, when your soap sets it will form ‘beads' of sweat  on the soap and ruin the appearance. Your soap can be melted again once or twice if this happens.

Each time you remelt your soap it will remove some of the water and provide a firmer (more long lasting) soap, however as you have evaporated the water away, you will have slightly less soap. If remelted too many times or over too high a heat it may ‘seize' & set hard being unable to melt again.
*Note - At this melting stage your opaque soap will becomes transparent, this is a temporary state and will become opaque once again on setting. Keeping this in mind, your colors (if used) will lighten slightly on setting so you may like to have them a little darker than desired at the melting stage.

Step 2 - Add Colors / Fragrance:
Once the soap has melted you can add colors, fragrances or florals if desired. Ensure that the soap is gently heated as the hotter it is the more rapidly your fragrance will evaporate. Add a few drops of your chosen fragrance / essential oil(s), smell and apply to your own preference. *Take care - if you take a deep breath and your oils are evaporating, you will inhale them and this can be most uncomfortable.

Add a few drops of your chosen Renascent Soap dye, you can mix the dyes to achieve different colors.

Alternative colors can be used, such as food grade colors, however the colors may not ‘fix' to the soap as well, causing people to slightly dye their skin on using the finished soap. Also certain food grade colors will fade in different lighting, eg - certain colors fade when exposed to sunlight, others when exposed to moonlight. Food dyes may ‘bleed' ito each other after molding is completed. The Renascent soap dyes have been especially formulated to blend well and remain true in soap making. *Take care - you will only need a drop or 2 for lighter colors, you can always add more as you go.

Step 3 - Add Botanicals:
If you wish to add botanicals or flower petals, gently mix them through. *Remember, botanicals will sink to the bottom of your mold in most cases and if you use a lot of very fine botanicals, they can become caught in body hair when using the soap and create an unpleasant experience.

Step 4 - Molding:
Ladle or gently pour your melted soap into the mold.
Place aside to set. If you are in a hurry you can place in the fridge, however this may cause some sweating on their removal. Allow to set for at least 5 hours, preferably overnight.

If you wish to use various colors in your mold, melt the 1st color and pour into mold, allow to set, lightly spritz with ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL , then pour your 2nd color in. Alternatively you can ‘paint' soap colors in or swirl a small amount through. If you wish to have a different colored background and don't wish to get any ‘bleed' at all happening. Pour your 1st color, when set, pour a thin layer of transparent soap and then pour the background color. This will prevent the colors blending into each other.
The Renascent soap dyes are stable pigment dyes, however if you use inferior quality soap dyes or food dyes, you will find after setting that the colours may fade and "bleed" into each other eg - red and white layers may become all pink in a matter of days/weeks.

Step 5 - Unmolding:
Turn mold upside down and gently release the sides or press in the centre, the soap should easily release and come away from the mold, leaving you with a shiny beautifully finished cake of soap. For 3D soaps, you may have to slightly stretch the silicone to release the soap. Allow to harden for at least a day and then delight in a beautiful bathing experience.

Congratulations - Your soap is now complete.

Instructions for Use and Care of your Renascent Soap Art Molds

Pouring Temperature: We have tested our Soap Art molds with Renascent Melt & Mold temperatures of up to 140°F without warping. However, it is recommended to pour the soap base as low as possible, to increase the mold's working life.

Unmolding Times for Melt & Mold: Most soap base can be unmolded within 4 hours at room temperature, sometimes less. For the opaque variety this is as long as you can leave before it will shatter when cut. If it is still slightly difficult to remove, waiting longer or chilling the soap will make it easier to unmold. If you are still having difficulties demolding after 4 hours, wait a little longer (preferably overnight). *Note: Do not allow your soap to go below 55-60°F or freeze as you will get water beads on the surface. DO NOT STORE SOAPS IN A HIGH HUMIDITY AREA - as this will cause the glycerine to "pull" the moisture from the area and your finished soap to 'sweat'. Try not to stretch your mold if possible as this can weaken the sides and over time cause cracking or spilts.

Mold Release agents: A mold release agent is available from some stores. Alternatively you may try a vegetable oil spray (only a little or your soap will be greasy). A light spray before you pour the soap into the mold will prolong the life of your mold and assist the release of the soap. If the soap sticks to the mold, using a mold release may aid in the release of these types of soap. Our molds do not require a release agent when pouring waxes, soaps, urethanes. Even though no release agent is necessary, a non silicone based release agent will not hurt and will extend the life of our molds. DO NOT USE A SILICONE BASE RELEASE AGENT. Silicone will stick to silicone.

Cleaning the Molds: Usually rinsing the molds in warm water is all that is necessary. You may also wash the molds in warm water, if necessary, to remove any leftover oils and/or soap residue. *Please note, essential oils, especially strong citrus-based oils may damage your mold over time.

Storing silicone Molds: When you have finished, place the mold back in the bag and store away from direct sunlight or strong temperature changes. Some people fill their molds with wax in between pours to ensure the shape. These molds are very elastic but do have a tear point. Do not stretch more than you need to demold. Do not stack to store or crush them, or in any way distort.

Additional Information.....

Adding Mica dust - Renascent stock a range of beautiful gold mica dust & shimmers. It is very inexpensive and you only need a pinch. After you have melted your soap and added the colors and fragrances, add a tiny pinch and wait a few moments. You will notice a beautiful shimmer suddenly appear throughout your soap. You can also ‘paint' your mold with the shimmers for the soap to have a shimmering external appearance.

Soap Petals for guests -These are lovely to use as guest soaps. Melt your Renascent Melt and Mold soap as usual, adding colors or fragrances if desired. Dip a Renascent silk flower petal in and place on a piece of tinfoil or wire rack to dry. When set (1-3 minutes) you will have beautiful soap petals. Place in a dish for guests to take one and wash their hands. A lovely idea for parties or special guest soaps. Packaged up, these make very (inexpensive) special gifts.

Adding Botanicals - Many different items can be added to your soaps. Try adding green tea leaves, dried basil leaves, herbs, dried flower petals. Anything you can imagine. It is important to dry the botanicals prior to use as they may otherwise become mouldy or rancid. *Remember, botanicals will sink to the bottom of your mold in most cases and if you use a lot of very fine botanicals, they can become caught in body hair when using the soap and create an unpleasant experience.
